Para memória futura, aqui fica o artigo de opinião anónimo que um membro da administração Trump publicou no The New York Times, a 5 de setembro de 2018.

Com um excelente título e mote, vale a pena ter em conta a explicação do jornal sobre a publicação sem a identificação do autor:

The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers.”

“The dilemma — which he does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations. I would know. I am one of them.”

“The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making.”

But his national security team knew better — such actions had to be taken, to hold Moscow accountable.

This isn’t the work of the so-called deep state. It’s the work of the steady state.”

“There is a quiet resistance within the administration of people choosing to put country first. But the real difference will be made by everyday citizens rising above politics, reaching across the aisle and resolving to shed the labels in favor of a single one: Americans.”

E por falar em heróis, acrescento o telefonema de Bob Woodward com o Presidente dos EUA, sobre o livro que será publicado na próxima semana. Um telefonema que mostra como a equipa de Trump corre atrás das consequências de uma má decisão na gestão da reputação da Administração.

Cinema Paradiso (1988)

Em 2015, lancei a mim mesma o desafio de dar gás à minha cultura cinematográfica. A proposta era simples: ver 30 dos melhores filmes de sempre antes de completar 30 anos. Além da conhecida lista de sugestões de Martin Scorsese a um jovem cineasta, que a pretensão não é tanta, coleccionei recomendações dos cinéfilos à minha volta.

Entretanto, a lista tornou-se curta porque surgiram mais recomendações. Não foi possível ignorar os tops do mundo do cinema, opiniões de quem admiro neste mundo, artigos bem fundamentados sobre os filmes que não se pode deixar de ver.

A lista, que começou em 2015, foi actualizada em Setembro de 2019. Alguns títulos já tinham sido vistos (a azul), outros foram entretanto, outros ainda mereceram algumas palavras.
